Sparta's Class of 1970 honors classmate David M. Schieber

The idea for a scholarship honoring David M. Schieber came at the group’s 45th class reunion. Schieber, who died of cancer in 2009, was one of Kent County’s most successful prosecutors, winning many newsworthy cases over his 28-year career. “David was a well-liked and respected prosecutor for Kent County who also loved teaching a Criminal Justice class at GRCC, which he did for many years as an adjunct professor,” Dwight Anderson, one of the organizers of the scholarship effort, told FOX 17.

“Many police officers remember him specifically for that class, and we thought this would be a good way to honor him and give back to the community.”
