Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) is "face-to-face facilitated conversation between members of two or more social identity groups. The training strives to create new levels of understanding, relating, and action.
This process promotes conversation around race, gender, culture, gender identity, sexual identity, socio-economic realities, politics, and identity, specifically, to generate new "collective visions" that uphold the dignity of all people.
Intergroup dialogue is intended to build relationships among participants with different social identities through the use of personal storytelling, empathetic listening, and interpersonal inquiry. IGD integrates three core educational goals: consciousness raising; building relationships across differences and conflicts; and strengthening individual and collective capacities to promote social justice.
Intergroup Dialogue training is provided to current GRCC faculty and staff for free through the Woodrick Social Justice Consortium in partnership with College Action Project (CAP) 3.2.
