Job Training

Students in the Job Training programs.

Job Training students are enrolled on a monthly basis and receive individual assistance from career coaches and instructors to determine which training plan is best for them. Nearing completion of the program, we make sure these students receive job placement assistance.

If this is your academic and career plan, you are considering one of the following Job Training programs:

  • Automotive Technician
  • Computer Support Technician
  • Construction Electrician
  • Introduction to Construction
  • Machinist/CNC Technician
  • Medical Assistant
  • Residential Construction
  • Welding/Fabrication Technician

How to Apply

  1. Complete our free application.
  2. Complete an ACT WorkKeys® skills assessment.  This assessment tells potential employers that you have earned a nationally recognized training credential upon program completion.
    1. Schedule an appointment for your WorkKeys® assessment by calling (616) 234-3800
      1. If you have graduated from a Michigan high school since 2010, you have already completed the WorkKeys® assessment.
      2. If you need to request a copy of your WorkKeys® results, contact your high school or ACT Work Ready Communities by calling (800) 967-5539.  We will accept scores from 2012 or newer.
    2. Submit a copy of your WorkKeys assessment results via email, fax or mail.
  3. Additional steps if applying to the Medical Assistant Program
    1. Submit a typing certificate indicating an ability to type at least 40wpm with 95% accuracy from an online testing website. 
    2. Submit Computer Competency Badges.
    3. Submit GRCC Immunization Form, including supporting documentation from a healthcare source physician office, health department, etc.

  2. Enroll in classes through your Online Center.
