A Raider Buzz feature:

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association announced its baseball award winners this week, and GRCC’s Alec Overbeek earned a place on the First Team All-MCCAA roster.

Overbeek started 29 games for the Raiders this season, posting a .358 batting average with six doubles, three triples and four home runs while recording a team-high .654 slugging percentage.

Bruce Buurstra took Second Team honors, and Cameron Brayman earned Third Team honors. Three others — Brady Paganelli, Michael Casterline and Dylan Limbacher — earned MCCAA Honorable Mention for their play this season.

Calvin Syrjala, who didn’t earn any conference hardware, was named to the NJCAA Region XII All-Tournament Team for his outstanding post-season play in Sandusky, Ohio, this weekend. Sinclair Community College ultimately earned the Region XII Championship, defeating Kellogg 11-7 for the National Tournament berth.
