Cross country runner Matthew Spees signs with Spring Arbor University

Matthew Spees recently signed a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Spring Arbor University after one season with GRCC’s cross country team.

During the 2018 season, Spees, a Caledonia High School graduate, ran a personal-best 8K time of 27:52. He also ran at the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I National Championships last fall and finished with a time of 33:35, helping his team to a 20th-place finish.

Spring Arbor’s team is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes and competes in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. This past season, Spring Arbor closed out its season placing 7th at the Cross Road League Championships.
