Assessing Learning Outcomes
You are invited to participate in this survey because you taught English 101 during the fall 2019 semester or are teaching English 101 during the winter 2020 semester.
The purpose of this survey is to find out which English 101 course learning outcomes are assessed using methods other than the portfolio common assignment. The procedure involves filling out an online survey. Completing the survey should take approximately 30 minutes.
There are no potential discomforts or unreasonable risks (mental, physical or financial) associated with completing this survey.
The expected benefits from this survey is data that may help improve how instructors assess course learning outcomes and student learning.
Your participation is voluntary. You may choose not to participate.
If you decide to participate in this survey, you may withdraw at any time.
To protect confidentiality, survey results will be anonymized and summarized before being shared. Data will be transferred from the survey to an external-drive secured with full disk encryption. After 1-year, the external drive will be wiped using a method that meets current DoD standards. Only the principal investigator will have access to the survey and collected data. Names and GRCC email addresses will be collected and may be used to invite individuals to participate in an action research project being designed and conducted by Mursalata Muhammad as part of the Ph.D. program at Antioch University.
This research has been reviewed by Grand Rapids Community College according to IRB procedures for research involving human subjects.
