Dorothy Paradis graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Psychology in 1986. She began her career at GRCC in 2003 working in the Information Technology Department where she became Helpdesk Director for Faculty and Staff. She accepted the position as Energy Manager in 2008, reporting to the Executive Vice President of Facilities at the college. In 2011 her title was changed to Energy and HVAC Project Manager expanding her role to include project management with ongoing remodels and renovations on campus. She brings to the position a diverse background in the energy services, information technology, psychiatric social work and vocational rehabilitation. Her duties include monitoring the energy use of the campus to maintain energy conservation standards for buildings, BIM and Commissioning coordination, and ensuring mechanical/electrical related equipment is operating efficiently. She monitors and coordinates building control systems, works with local utilities, and analyzes current utility costs. She also promotes energy efficiency and conservation throughout the college via education, equipment monitoring, data analysis, and training. Since 2008, she has helped the college save over $10 million in energy costs.
