Dr. Kathryn Mullins is Grand Rapids Community College’s vice president for College Advancement and the executive director of the GRCC Foundation.
The first member of her family to attend college, Mullins oversees efforts to help students from across West Michigan overcome financial obstacles to start or continue their education. The foundation distributed more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 students in each of the last two years.
Her departments work to generate resources through donations and grants to improve facilities and expand programs and partnerships to create opportunities for students.
Mullins also directs the college’s Communications and Web and Digital Strategy departments, expanding community access and engagement and telling the GRCC story to the people it serves and beyond.
Mullins has spent more than 25 years working in education, spending 10 years in K-12 administration before coming to GRCC in 2004.
She is a leader in the community, serving as a member of the board for the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan and was a 2013 Salute to Women honoree.
Mullins earned an associate and bachelor’s degrees in business, and a Master of Business Administration in Leadership Studies from Baker College. Mullins earned a doctoral degree in community college leadership from Ferris State University.
