Kyle Thompson resides in Grand Rapids, MI and makes his living as a performer and teacher. He has received degrees in music from Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University, and the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, OH studying with Brian Morris, Carlos de la Barrera and Clare Callahan respectively. His extensive masterclass credits include Jason Vieaux, Marcin Dylla, and Oscar Ghiglia. Since graduating from CCM in 2014, Mr. Thompson has kept an active performance schedule in West Michigan. In 2018 he had the chance to collaborate with Folias Duo members Andrew Bergeron and Carmen Maret in premieres of two newly written pieces: Parliament of Birds (Maret) and Concerto Garita (Maret/Bergeron) as well as recorded his first solo album titled “Twentieth Century Guitar”. Mr. Thompson is currently serving as an adjunct faculty member at Grand Rapids Community College as well as a part-time professor of guitar at Grand Valley State University.
