A fun competition to cut waste!
GRCC is actively competing in RecycleMania, an annual 8-week competition with colleges across the United States and Canada, to promote waste reduction on campus. The 2020 competition is running Feb 2 - March 28.
Calling all Raiders to reduce and reuse
Each week, we're joining colleges across the nation in reporting the pounds of recyclables and waste produced.
National recognition is provided to the winning school that:
- recycles the most on a per capita basis
- has the best recycling rate as a percentage of total waste
- generates the least amount of combined trash and recycling
RecycleMania 2020 Half-Way Update:
We are heading into the second half of the RecycleMania competition and GRCC has our head in the game!
During the first 4 weeks of the competition, GRCC recycled over 13,000 pounds of paper, cardboard, and mixed recyclables. That's the equivalent to 15,000 cans of soup, 8,500 basketballs, or 450,000 AAA batteries - all of which are recyclable!
Help us recycle even more in the month of March by utilizing the correct recycling bins located throughout GRCC's campus. If you get caught green-handed while recycling, you could even win a prize!
Did you know that it's estimated as much as 75% of man-made trash can be recycled? Take some time to watch the video below to learn how to recycle with the S.O.R.T. system that GRCC uses. Before long, you'll be a recycling superhero yourself!
