Dr. Carol VanRandwyk received a Master of Music Degree in theory in 1984, and a Ph.D. in music composition in 1994, from Michigan State University. Carol has been teaching music theory and aural skills course to college students since 1989 when she first held a graduate teaching assistantship at Michigan State University. In addition to teaching at Michigan State for three years, Carol was part of the music faculty at Lansing Community College for nine years, and held the position of Lead Faculty for the LCC music program from 1995 to 1998. She has been teaching music theory, aural comprehension, piano, and composition at GRCC for the past eleven years. Dr. VanRandwyk has composed musical works for a variety of chamber ensembles. The flute and guitar duet, Folias (Andrew Bergeron and Carmen Maret) have recently premiered two works by Dr. VanRandwyk -- Las Alas del Viento and Genesis Wave. The Kent Philharmonia premiered her orchestral work, The Jabberwock, this past October.
