GIANTS Award honorees and guests.

During their tenure at Grand Rapids Community College, Dr. Patricia Pulliam and Mr. Cedric Ward curated the Giants Award process. The Giants Award recognizes members of the African American community for their exceptional contributions in shaping the history, culture, and quality of life of the Grand Rapids community.  Each award is named after local ‘giants;’ serving as a memorial to their notable service-leadership.

Proceeds from the Giants Awards Banquet support the Milo M. Brown Memorial Scholarship and the Junior Giants Fund.

Junior Giants Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded to nominated students who demonstrate the essence of a Junior Giant; demonstrated leadership community involvement and impact, academic and athletic accomplishments, or academic achievement/academic progress.

Each year, the Junior Giants Cedric Ward Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a senior student in the Kent Intermediate School District, and the Junior Giants Dr. Patricia Pulliam Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a current college student.
