Advisory Committees

active listeners around a table.

An advisory committee is composed of business and industry representatives who possess the potential to hire students from the respective field of study. They are also chosen for their ability to advise the College on the content of that particular curriculum and future directions for the workforce.

Successful programs are the result of cooperative and collaborative efforts between Grand Rapids Community College and its business, industry, labor, and community partners. The purpose of the advisory committee is to provide community-based information to the administration and staff of Grand Rapids Community College regarding the skills and competencies students need in a particular curriculum. By doing so the committee provides advice on new technology, emerging skill needs and other curriculum developments.

There are several active advisory committees at GRCC. From manufacturing to nursing, business to criminal justice, and child development to dental — there is a fit for any Grand Rapids area company. For further information on advisory committees, or to inquire about joining a GRCC advisory, contact the Dean of Workforce Development's office, (616) 234-3744 or
