Commencement Regalia

The dedicated faculty and staff of GRCC have generously committed to "Sponsoring a Grad.” Because of this support, GRCC is providing all graduates with a cap and tassel as a gift from GRCC faculty and staff. The cap and tassel are yours to keep.

Name Recording

Help us pronounce your name correctly at Commencement by sending us a recording!

Instructions

  • Dial (616) 439-1033 to leave a voicemail, or record yourself and email grcctv@email.grcc.edu.
    1. Say your full, preferred name that you'd like read aloud at Commencement.
      • Example: "My name is Corinna, but I prefer to be called Corey." You would leave a message stating your name is Corey [insert last name].
    2. Pronounce it slowly a second time.
    3. Spell it out.

Cords and Medallions

When you register for Commencement, indicate if you will be receiving the following recognition:

  • Veterans: Graduates who are United States veterans are recognized for their service with red, white, and blue cords. Veterans cords will be distributed at GRADfest.
  • Middle College: Graduates who completed the Middle College program are recognized with special blue and white cords. Middle College cords will be distributed at GRADfest.
  • Phi Theta Kappa (PTK): Graduating PTK members may purchase a medallion to wear at Commencement. When you register, you will be asked if you would like to purchase the medallion. PTK Advisor Lynnae Selberg will contact you to complete the sale. Medallions will be distributed at GRADfest.
  • Honors Program: Graduates who were enrolled in the GRCC Honors program and have completed all the requirements for completion will be mailed certificates and cords from the Honors Program staff.

Stole of Appreciation

A gift from GRCC Alumni Relations, the Stole of Appreciation is to be worn at Commencement. It is our way to say thank you for choosing GRCC and a way to encourage you to stay in touch with your alma mater.

After the ceremony, gift the stole to someone who has made a difference in your life.
