What is ALEKS?
ALEKS PPL, or ALEKS, is a math assessment that ensures the math class that you enroll will meet and challenge your existing skillset.
The assessment also indicates if you're able to bypass math courses not required for your degree, or if you qualify for FastTrack, a three-week learning lab that could help you skip a required course, if you're eligible.
Who's required to take ALEKS?
All students must take ALEKS, except if you've taken a college-level math course that fulfills the prerequisite for the class in which you would like to enroll.
Note: The course must be transferred to GRCC within three years leading up to your GRCC math class enrollment. Refer to our catalog to see a list of classes and prerequisites.
ALEKS takes approximately 90 minutes to complete and has about 30 questions.
When you've completed the test, you'll receive:
- Your scores.
- A list of recommended courses for you to enroll in.
