GRCC is governed by the board of trustees, which consists of seven members elected at large in biennial elections. The president of the college serves as an ex officio member of the board. The trustees serve without compensation for overlapping terms of six years. Trustees operate under the policy governance model. The board meets once a month in a public session.

The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees will meet in a special open meeting on Monday, February 2, 2026 to host a *lunch with legislators. This meeting open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267 and will be held in Secchia Piazza in the Applied Technology Center from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.

Notice of Closed Session, Work Session and Regular Meeting
The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees will meet in a closed session on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026 beginning at 1:30 p.m. to discuss strategies for collective bargaining pursuant to Section 8(1)(c) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act.
Immediately following the closed session they will meet in a work session on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026. This meeting open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267 and will be held in the board conference Room on the fifth floor of Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall.
A regular meeting will follow the work session, beginning at 4:15 p.m. This meeting will be held in the board room on the fifth floor of Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall and is open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267.
