GRCC is governed by the board of trustees, which consists of seven members elected at large in biennial elections. The president of the college serves as an ex officio member of the board. The trustees serve without compensation for overlapping terms of six years. Trustees operate under the policy governance model. The board meets once a month in a public session.

Notice of Special Board Meetings
The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees will meet in special board meetings on Dec. 5, 9, and10, 2025 for the purposes of selecting our next president. These meeting are open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267 and will be held in the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center (151 Fountain NE).
