Lynn K. Asper
Mr. Asper was the previous chair of the Music Department at GRCC and from 1969 to 1979, Mr. Asper was the Director of Instrumental Music at Ottawa Hills High School. He earned his Baccalaureate Degree in music from Ball State University in 1969 and his Master of Music Education Degree from Michigan State University in 1975. Mr. Asper was awarded a Life Membership to the National Association of Schools of Music, where he served as Chariman of the Commission on Community and Junior Colleges. Mr. Asper's teaching responsibilities at GRCC include applied trumpet and conducting the Trumet Choir. Mr. Asper has turned over the baton of the Kent Philharmonia Orchestra. to Michael Gillan after the 2004-2005 Season. He continues to play trumpet with the Kent Philharmonia Orchestra Brass Quintet and the Grand River Big Band. Mr. Asper's new trumpet method book, A Physical Approach to Playing the Trumpet, is published by WaveSong Press.
