Michael Gillan is an Assistant Professor of music at Grand Rapids Community College Mr. Gillan is director of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Mariachi Ensemble, Kent Philarmonia Orchestra, and the Grand River Winds. He also teaches low brass and Aural Comprehension.
He received his undergraduate musical training at Michigan State University and his Masters Degree in Trombone Performance from Ball State University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Wind Conducting from Michigan State University.
Mr. Gillan has taught in the secondary schools in Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, Nevada and North Dakota. He was formerly Interim Director of Bands at University of Michigan - Flint and Wayne State College in Nebraska. His groups have been featured at both the Wyoming and Nebraska Music Educators Conventions. Mr. Gillan has also presented clinics at numerous state MENC Conventions and has conducted many honor bands in the Midwest area.
