Our Thanks: From GRCC Foundation Executive Director

Letter from the Executive Director of the GRCC Foundation

I am honored to be the GRCC Foundation’s new leader. I’ve spent the vast majority of my career working here, and I’ve seen the life-changing impact it has from different vantage points: donor relations coordinator, alumni relations director and associate director.

I’m now privileged to serve in the role that many of my mentors held before me. They paved the way not only for me, but for the success of GRCC and all of its students. The foundation’s work in raising $22.9 million in the 2019 A Broader Vision capital campaign and funding a $12 million Lakeshore Campus are just two examples that touch the lives of everyone at GRCC.

Our strength lies in the incredible partnerships we’ve developed – with donors, college employees, businesses and the community. West Michigan generosity is legendary – and we at GRCC have seen the seemingly impossible happen countless times.

Our partners – on- and off-campus – understand the challenges students face and the difference scholarship support makes to them. They also recognize the importance of keeping campus buildings and equipment current so students gain the skills needed in today’s workforce.

Students feel those connections. Many scholarship recipients tell us that while they appreciate the financial help, they’re also touched that someone they’ve never met supports their dreams.

Since joining the foundation in 2005, I’ve watched that magic happen. In my new position, I promise to make sure that a life-changing college education remains accessible to everyone.

I’m excited to continue building relationships with our foundation partners, and I’m very grateful to all of you for your commitment to our students.

With thanks,

Erin Van Egmond
Executive Director
