Stakeholders meet GRCC's new president at event on the Main and Lakeshore Campuses


Faculty, students and stakeholders turned out to welcome Dr. Charles W. Lepper, the college’s 11th president, at GRCC Foundation-sponsored gatherings on the Main and Lakeshore campuses.

Lepper, who started at the beginning of 2023, brings more than 25 years of experience at universities and community colleges to his new role.

Before coming to GRCC, he served as vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Salt Lake Community College, which has more than 60,000 students across 10 campuses. During his time there, he developed the SLCC Promise, which has provided more than $5 million in free tuition since 2016. He helped lead SLCC’s Guided Pathways program; reworked admissions, advising and financial aid processes; and expanded the dual enrollment program.

Prior to his time at SLCC, he served in leadership roles at Tidewater Community College in Virginia and Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana.

Academic Advising Association as a consultant to two-year institutions. He has a bachelor’s degree in human resources and personnel management from Ball State University; a master’s in secondary, higher and adult education from Grand Valley State University; and a doctorate in educational leadership, administration and foundations from Indiana State University. He also completed Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management in 2017 and earned a professional development certificate in trauma and resilience from Florida State University in 2021.
