What do I need to submit for admission to GRCC?
A completed, signed application (online or paper version), $20 application fee, ACT scores, and a copy of a high school transcript OR official college transcript.
What grades and test scores do I need to be admitted to GRCC?
Our general entrance requirements are both a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 16 composite score on the ACT for high school graduates and for transfer students 12 credits minimum with a 2.0 cumulative GPA from another college or university.
If you do not meet the requirements, you can be admitted by taking the Accuplacer placement test.
What happens after I submit my application and transcript?
The online admissions application takes about 2-3 days to process and the paper application can be processed in 10-14 days. If your application is incomplete, a letter will be sent to notify you. If you do not submit a transcript, or submit a transcript with a GPA and/or ACT score below our admissions requirements, you will receive another letter asking you to take GRCC's placement test.
I am an Early College student, do I need to re-apply to be a regular student?
Yes. All Early College students must complete a regular admissions application to obtain admission as a college student. Please see Early College web page.
I took courses at KCTC/Careerline Tech Center, can I get credit for that?
To receive credit for those courses at GRCC, please submit an Articulation Application, Student Achievement Recording Process Form, and an Official Transcript to the GRCC Articulation Office (616-234-3377) for review.
I took AP classes, how can I get credit for those?
Credit is granted for scores of 3 or higher. You must have an official transcript of national standardized exam test scores sent to the Student Records Office.
When should I apply to GRCC?
Suggested deadlines: Fall semester- Dec 1; Winter semester- Oct 1. Always apply EARLY for timely processing.
How do I register for classes?
Once the admissions process is complete, you will receive a student ID number that you will use to create your Online Student Center login. You can browse the GRCC catalog and schedule in the Online Student Center to enroll in classes. GRCC recommends that new students attend the Orientation program.
How can I get help paying for classes?
Over two thirds of the GRCC student population receives some form of financial aid. There are a variety of types of financial aid available. Please contact the GRCC Financial Aid office at (616) 234-4030 with further questions.
How can I visit GRCC?
The Admissions Office offers Prospective Student Open Houses Mondays at 10am, Thursdays at 5pm and Fridays at 10am and 3pm in the Enrollment Center. The open house includes a presentation reviewing the admissions process, student services, educational opportunities and financial aid information. A tour of campus is optional.
What GRCC courses will transfer to other colleges/universities?
One of the best advantages about GRCC classes is their transferability. Please refer to the transfer guide for more information.
What is MACRAO?
The Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) Articulation Agreement was established to improve class transferability between two year and four year colleges and universities in the state of Michigan.
Many general education classes are included in the MACRAO agreement, please refer to www.grcc.edu/macrao
How much is GRCC tuition?
GRCC charges tuition by the contact hour. The rate varies for resident, non-resident and out-of-state. Please refer to the Tuition and Fees site for the most current information.
What degrees and courses are available?

Does GRCC offer GED preparation and ESL classes?
Yes. Both the Learning Corner @ Wealthy and the Learning Corner at the MTEC offer GED preparation courses. The Learning Corner at the MTEC offers beginning level ESL classes.

I am currently undecided, how can I get career advice?
Being undecided is very common for all college students. To find educational direction and get a better idea of existing career paths that incorporate your skills, interests and abilities, contact Career Development Services (616-234-3890 ) They provide workshops and seminars as well as career assessment.
How and when can I talk with an academic advisor?
GRCC academic advisors meet only with admitted students by appointment. New students are encouraged to attend the New Student Orientation program.
