Tuition Benefit Information
-
College employees, spouses, dependents and retirees are eligible to receive tuition benefits as outlined in relevant union contracts and the Meet and Confer Handbook.
-
For employees seeking to use the tuition benefit for themselves, the Tuition Benefit Form is completed by the employee and signed by the employee’s supervisor. The form is then submitted to the Human Resources Department. For employees seeking to use the tuition benefit form for a spouse or child, the Tuition Benefit form is completed by the employee and submitted directly to HR. Retirees may also submit the form directly to HR.
-
The Tuition Benefit form needs to be submitted to HR (10) days prior to the beginning of the class.
-
A copy of the approved form is returned to the employee/retiree within 10 days. Eligibility is determined by review of the following:
-
Benefit already utilized during fiscal year
-
Status of employee (full time, part time, probationary)
-
-
Within six weeks following successful completion of the class(s), the tuition benefit recipient attaches a copy of the proof of grade and paid tuition receipt and returns these documents to HR. The HR Department verifies the tuition and fees amounts, reviews the grade received and processes reimbursement. A copy of the approved Tuition Benefit Form is sent to the employee or retiree. Reimbursement is paid out through the recipient’s paycheck.
Deferral Information
-
Requests for deferral must be turned in to Cashiers no later than the posted Tuition Due Date.
-
If the employee selects the deferral option, the employee will attach a copy of the approved Tuition Benefit Form to the Deferral Form and submit both forms to the Cashiers Office. Employees, spouse and child are eligible for the deferral option.
-
Tuition deferral for self is allowed for all employee groups. Deferral for spouse/child is allowed for all employee groups other than Meet and Confer. Unsuccessful completion of the course will void the tuition benefit. Payment for the course will be the responsibility of the employee and will be deducted from the employee’s check via the payroll department.
