Detroit River Story Lab
GRCC faculty, staff and students are invited to a river-themed sail on the Detroit River. The tall ship provides hands-on learning about the cultural and environmental history of the river and the city of Detroit.
Discovering station topics range from river plankton and sturgeon to the fur trade, rum running, and the local history of the Underground Railroad. Between stations, participants have the opportunity to hoist sails, steer the ship, and soak in the captivating, multi-sensory experience of cruising a traditionally rigged sailing vessel on a beautiful international waterway.
GRCC Professor Lynn Prince will be leading this DRSL trip on Saturday, September 26th, departing at 9:30am from GRCC Grand Rapids Campus.
The trip is free, and transportation and lunch will be provided. This experience is open to faculty, students, and staff and is a great way to learn how future trips with DRSL could be used within your GRCC classroom, on the Grand River, or with a student organization.
