   • Individual appointments are great for students still deciding their major, discussing career and academic goals, or transfer planning.

About Me

Hi! I am Cassandra, but everyone calls me Cassie. I am here to help you figure out college — whether that means planning your classes, choosing a major, or simply answer the question, "Am I doing this right?"

I started out wanting to be a teacher, which took me to Grand Valley State University for a degree in Special Education and a Master's in Education. I'm certified in Elementary Education with additional Special Education endorsements, which basically means I'm really good at explaining things in different ways until they make sense.

While working on campus at GVSU, I realized higher education was my thing. For close to twenty years, I have advised student on how to define their own success and create meaningful goals for their personal and academic development. Along the way I discovered Advising is Teaching, and it sits right at the heart of how you shape your educational path.

I'm so excited to be at GRCC (Go Raiders and shout out to our new Otter). I believe advising should feel supportive, clear, and low-stress — think helpful guide, not gatekeeper. My goal is for you to leave our meetings feeling confident, informed, and not panicking about your degree plan. I value being a part of the GRCC community and my goal is to make sure everyone feels welcome, supported, and included here - I can't wait to connect with you!
