Jonathan Marshall

Jonathan Marshall is a Michigan born Classical Guitarist/Composer, and he currently teaches at Grand Rapids Community College. Jonathan owns and operates Jonathan Marshall Guitars (Concert Classical Guitar Dealer), and is the director of the Grand Rapids Community College International Guitar Series. He is also the director of the GRCC Guitar Competition and Festival. Mr. Marshall currently performs solo and with Guitarist Brian Morris in the Grand Rapids Guitar Duo. Jonathan has composed numerous solo classical guitar works and is published through Guitar Chamber Music Press.

He studied under the classical guitarist and vocalist Brian Morris at Grand Rapids Community College, Carlos De La Barrera at Grand Valley State University, and completed his Master's degree at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati under Professor Clare Callahan. Jonathan has participated in Master Classes with Manuel Barrueco, Denis Azabagic, Ana Vidovic, and Oscar Ghiglia. He took second place in the Columbus, Ohio College Guitar Competition, and recorded a CD in 2006 titled, “Modern Classical Guitar.”
