Staying Healthy During Flu Season

As flu cases increase in our area, Grand Rapids Community College encourages everyone to take simple steps to help reduce the spread of seasonal influenza and keep our campus healthy. Recommended Prevention Strategies Vaccination: Flu vaccines are the most effective prevention. Please consult your health care provider to determine what’s right for you. Hand hygiene: Wash hands often with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Cough and sneeze: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow if a tissue isn’t available. Reduce exposure: Avoid touching your face and limit contact with people who are ill. Student Health Resources GRCC offers a free, on-campus health clinic for all enrolled students through Health Bar, a Grand Rapids-based health care provider. Location: ATC Room 223 Hours: Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2–6 p.m. Health Bar On Demand: Available daily, 7 a.m.–9 p.m. by calling (616) 200-6412 Learn more or schedule an appointment on the  Get Help section of the GRCC website . Campus Guidance During Flu Season Students and employees who are sick should stay home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication. Faculty should clearly communicate expectations for making up missed coursework. If several students in a class become ill, faculty should contact their Associate Dean as soon as possible for campus reporting purposes. Staff, faculty and students experiencing flu-like symptoms such as cough, runny nose, dizziness or fever, should stay home and focus on recovery. GRCC is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy learning and work environment. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our campus community healthy. GRCC Players’ Invite Audiences to Ponder Love and Loss With Orion

Jan. 14, 2026 Grand Rapids Community College’s GRCC Players will perform  Orion , a production that invites audiences to reflect on relationships and how we move forward when life doesn’t unfold the way we imagined. Orion tells a story of love’s complexity at the start of our adult lives and those love relationships that end, but never really leave us. After Sam and Gwen’s breakup, friends Scott and Abby help Sam navigate what comes next — while part of Gwen may not be ready to let go. Honest, charming and funny,  Orion explores the reasons why we love and make the sacrifices we do.  “We chose  Orion because it encourages critical thinking from both students and the audience’” said Jonathan Wheeler, manager of Spectrum Theater. “This production focuses on the gray areas in relationships. Rather than offering clear answers, it examines how we respond when life doesn't unfold the way we imagine and then what it means to adapt, resist or let go.” Orion is Matthew McLachlan’s first full-length play. Fans of great contemporary plays are sure to love this poignant debut from a rising star in the playwriting world.  Information and Tickets January 22-24, 2026  7:30 PM Spectrum Theater, Lab Theater, Room 201* $18  General Admission |  $12  GRCC Faculty and Staff | $5  GRCC Student  *Please Note: This production is presented in Spectrum Theater's Lab Theater, an intimate black box performance space with limited seating availability.  Directed by Tom Kaechele Stage Manager - Sevi Cullum  CAST  Sam - Ian Santoyo Gwen - Grace LaFleur Abby - Kiera Zittel Scott - Cyrus Geysbeek Tickets:  grcctheater.ludus.com or call (616) 234-3946
