Accuplacer results aren't pass or fail — they help you identify any courses you can bypass, as well as the reading and writing courses best for you.

Who needs to take the test?

You must take the Accuplacer test for enrollment if you have:

  • Taken the SAT before 2016.
  • Taken the ACT before 2018.
  • Taken the Accuplacer test before the fall of 2018.
  • Fewer than 12 college credits.
  • College GPA below 2.0.

What is on the test?

The Accuplacer test consists of two components:

  • Reading Test: 20 multiple choice questions - Unlimited time. 
  • Writing Test: One essay, 300 to 600 words (scored electronically) - 40 minute time limit.

Schedule Your Test

You can test in person or remotely. Testing is available on campus Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Virtual testing is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

NOTE: You do not need an appointment to test on the Main Campus. We will accept testers on a drop-in basis. You do not need to schedule remote testing for the ALEKS Math Placement test. This test is available to take from home at your convenience. You can find this test in the Online Center of your MYGRCC account. 

When you've completed the assessment, you'll receive a printed report of your scores. You'll also receive a list of recommended courses for you to enroll in, but the testing staff cannot interpret scores for you.
