Community Service Work-Study
Up to 28 hrs/wk (Flexible schedule that will include days, nights & weekends)
-Opening and Closing of the Museum
ā Carry out daily procedures as determined by the Floor Manager team
-Facilitation of Exhibits
ā Facilitate play with guests in the exhibit environment
ā Reset/tidy up exhibits to ensure a high quality experience for guests and maintain physical accessibility of all spaces
ā Cultivate open-ended, child-directed experiences
ā Provide clear information and answers regarding visitor questions
-Facilitation of Field Trips
ā Greet school groups, teachers and chaperones in a friendly and courteous way as they enter the museum.
-Maintaining a Safe and Clean Environment
ā Follow all cleaning protocols
ā Pick up manipulatives, organize exhibits
ā Regularly clean restrooms, kitchen, and overall facility
ā Enforce museum policies and rules
ā Assist with emergencies, as needed
ā Assist with clean-up on non-hazardous materials and some bodily fluids
ā Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of exhibits
ā Report broken exhibits, manipulatives and building problems to Facilities Manager
-Communication with the Team
ā Check work email each schedule shift
ā Communicate with other Facilitators and Floor Manager about tasks, breaks, and needing to step off the floor
ā Communicate effectively with co-workers, museum visitors, volunteers, and the general public.
ā Possess the verbal and numerical aptitude to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner.
ā Maintain a positive attitude in times of large crowds and group visits.
ā Must be alert, able to concentrate, and possess good judgement and analytical skills.
ā Physically demanding in order to keep the museum clean and to play with kids in different exhibit spaces.
ā Mobility to move freely, bending, kneeling required on a daily basis while facilitating the Museum.
ā Lifting required on a regular basis, usually in conjunction with exhibits, deliveries and special events.
