Cyber Security Lab Assistant

The Cyber Security Lab Assistant supports the Computer Information Systems department and the Center for Cyber Security Studies by building, configuring, and maintaining hands-on lab environments, supporting virtual range development, and representing the department at regional security conferences and community meetings.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
⢠GRRCON Coordination: Help manage, coordinate, and oversee the department's presence
and student involvement at GRRCON.
⢠Cyber Range Development & Maintenance: Under supervision, design, construct, and
manage virtual cyber range labs for student practical exercises.
⢠Network & Infrastructure Administration: Configure and support network configurations
using systems like pfSense and Proxmox.
⢠Community & Advisory Participation: Attend and participate in regional cybersecurity
events and industry group meetings (such as MISEC).
⢠Lab Support & Maintenance: Assist faculty with laboratory setups, general administrative
tasks, and maintaining lab availability.
⢠Enrollment in CIS or related technology programs at GRCC.
⢠Familiarity with virtual environment administration (Proxmox, VMware, or hypervisors).
⢠Understanding of firewall, routing, and networking concepts (pfSense, VLANs, routing
protocols).
⢠Strong organizational skills for event planning and departmental coordination.
⢠Ability to work independently and manage project-based responsibilities.
