The Student Ambassador will serve a core part of the Woodrick Center’s mission by offering workshops, connection opportunities, guidance and support to the students who participate in the Rise Up & Achieve student engagement program.

The Woodrick Center Student Ambassadors will promote holistic student success through personalized support to their peers in order to help them achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals, as well as have opportunities to build their intercultural communication skills. Additionally, Student Ambassadors plan, coordinate, and implement involvement activities for their peers to encourage campus connection and belonging.

Description:
ā— Serve as a supportive resource for current and prospective students
ā— Mentor student mentees in a monthly 1-on-1 capacity using individualized success plans
ā— Plan, coordinate, and implement monthly academic or professional programs to increase student’s academic and professional readiness and resilience
ā— Plan, coordinate, and implement monthly community circle programs to increase student’s sense of belonging and connection
ā— Plan and host monthly tabling opportunities to inform the GRCC community about Woodrick Center activities across the various college campuses
ā— Work with Program Coordinators regularly to co-plan activities and support events
ā— Meet biweekly with Program Coordinators in 1-on-1 supervisor meetings
ā— Track and manage required program and mentorship data according to the Center’s standards
ā— Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and collaboration meetings
ā— Assist with planning and facilitating Woodrick Center events
ā— Work with various campus departments as needed
ā— Serve as a liaison to registered student organizations
ā— Create a positive and affirming atmosphere for the GRCC community
ā— Commit to the position for at least 1 academic year (fall and winter semesters) with the possibility of continuing in the position into the summer and/or the following year

ā— Role model academic excellence and serve as a guide for campus resources
ā— Possess excellent written, interpersonal, and group communication skills
ā— Detail oriented, self-disciplined, strong work ethic, dependable
ā— Positively represent the College
ā— Commit to completing a minimum weekly schedule of 12 hours, with half of scheduled hours being present in the Woodrick Center office or assigned working space
ā— Available to attend Woodrick Center programs and events, including some evening volunteer opportunities
ā— Must be enrolled as a Grand Rapids Community College student
ā— Must currently be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours in both the Fall and Winter semesters
ā— Have an unweighted 2.5 grade point average from their most recent institution (high school, transferring from another college, etc.)
ā— Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA at GRCC.
