Elia Meekhoff is a vocalist and educator who is passionate about helping students discover their voices, build confidence and find joy in making music. She is currently completing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at Michigan State University, where she previously earned her Master of Music. She also holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University.
Elia brings a diverse background in performance and education to her teaching. As a soprano, she has performed with organizations including Opera de Metro, the Grand Rapids Opera Company, Michigan State University Opera Theatre, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Society of Grand Rapids, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Her performance experience includes opera, orchestral works, musical theater, choral music and solo recital work.
As an educator, Elia has taught students from elementary age through adulthood in private studios, public schools and university settings. She believes that every student brings a unique voice and set of experiences to the classroom. Her teaching focuses on creating a supportive environment where students can take risks, develop healthy vocal technique and become confident, expressive musicians.
Elia loves getting to know her students and supporting them as they pursue their musical and personal goals.
