Victoria McCarthy

Victoria McCarthy comes to GRCC from Western Michigan University, where she taught applied and class piano to music majors and minors. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award given by the music school and was nominated for the university-wide teaching award. She has successfully entered her students in many piano competitions and music schools.

Victoria received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Music from Western Michigan University in Piano Performance with an emphasis in Music History. She has studied with Van Cliburn medalist Aviram Reichert and Gina Bachauer Gold medalist Lori Sims.

While at GVSU, Victoria won the distinguished Arthur C. Hills scholarship, the most prestigious performance award offered at the university. In addition to being an active soloist and collaborative pianist, Victoria conducts workshops and serves as an adjudicator for competitions and festivals throughout West Michigan.
