Learning First at GRCC
- GRCC offers the first two years of a university-level education with a community college philosophy.
- Learning opportunities are offered in flexible formats, including weekday, weekend, evening, online and hybrid, and accelerated courses. Classes are offered at the Main campus in downtown Grand Rapids, at its Lakeshore Campus in Holland, and at six regional centers.
- Wherever classes are offered GRCC keeps class size small enough to provide individualized attention and assistance to students. Fall 2015 average class size was 23.
- GRCC faculty, over 89% of whom hold a Master’s Degree or Ph.D., are committed to excellence in teaching. They also bring scholarly and real-world experience to the classroom in order to best prepare students for further education and for careers.
- Committed to student support, GRCC provides a wide range of tutorial, advising and counseling services free of charge at convenient times and locations.
- An open access institution, GRCC provides learning opportunities to students at all levels of preparation. For example, our developmental programs (ABE, GED, ESL, and Academic Foundations) help students become college – ready, and our Honors Program challenges already high-achieving students to greater successes.
- In our effort to provide seamless educational pathways for students, GRCC maintains 44 partnerships with regional high schools and technical centers, 12 articulated program agreements with 4-year partners, and four reverse transfer agreements with local universities.
- GRCC offers 37 workforce associate degree and 35 certificate programs including non-credit training which are designed to give you the necessary skills to be ready. (Strategic Value Resolution)
- GRCC has provided customized training to 54 companies through 526 classes reaching 4,462 people. In addition, 583 companies were served through continuing education and professional development reaching 12,008 community members in 2014-15.
