Thank you for your interest in applying for a study away trip at Grand Rapids Community College. Please follow the steps to start the process.
Step 1. Set up a Study Away Overview Appointment
All students are required to attend a 20-minute Information Session with a Study Away representative. During this session you will be provided with all the essential information including trip specific details, health and safety information, payments and financing, and general timeline. Sessions are 'virtual' and can be either one-on-one or in a group.
Step 2. Submit your Study Away Application
Upon attending the Study Away Information Session, you will receive an email with the application and further instructions.
Step 3. Meet with your Study Away Faculty Leader
Once your application has been approved you will be directed to contact your faculty leader to discuss specific aspects of the trip. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the trip that you may have concerns about.
Step 4. Begin making payments and submit required travel documents
Again, you will receive specific instructions to set up your online payment account as well as submitting your travel documents. Submitting accurate and timely documents is vital when securing your airfare and simply entering international countries/cities.
Step 5. Attend the required Pre-Departure meeting
All students and faculty traveling on a study away trip will gather at this meeting typically facilitated a few weeks prior to departure. During this meeting, students will be able to meet other students traveling on their trip, obtain final trip details, and receive final advice for a successful travel experience. Free food and parking will be available.
