GRCC is governed by the board of trustees, which consists of seven members elected at large in biennial elections. The president of the college serves as an ex officio member of the board. The trustees serve without compensation for overlapping terms of six years. Trustees operate under the policy governance model. The board meets once a month in a public session.

Notice of Closed and Work Sessions
The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees will meet in a closed session, to consider material exempt from discussion or disclosure by state or federal statute – a written legal opinion - under the Open Meetings Act Section 8(1)(h). This meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Following the closed session the Board of Trustees will meet in a work session in the board conference room on the fifth floor of Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall. This meeting is open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267 and should conclude by 4 p.m.
