New Career Success Program Gives Students an Advantage

Aug. 18, 2026

Beginning in fall 2026, Grand Rapids Community College’s Career Success Program (CSP) will help students strengthen the professional skills needed to stand out in today’s job market. Available through GRCC’s Center for Career and Professional Readiness (CCPR), CSP guides students through real-world workplace scenarios. The eight self-paced, interactive modules cover workplace fundamentals, career and self-development, teamwork and collaboration, communication, adaptability and other essential professional skills.

Strengthen Critical Workplace Skills

Employers value the technical knowledge students develop in the classroom, and they also consistently identify communication, problem-solving, collaboration and adaptability as essential workplace skills.

“CSP gives students a practical way to strengthen the professional skills employers consistently identify as essential,” David Pridmore, FutureTech Careers program manager, says. “Students can focus on one immediate need or work through all eight modules as they prepare for an internship, job search or career transition.”
Whether you are changing careers, searching for your first job or internship, preparing to graduate or updating your resume, CSP offers practical strategies to help you build confidence and prepare for what comes next.

Learn On Your Schedule

Students can complete the modules most relevant to an immediate goal or work through all eight for a broader career-readiness foundation.

Modules explore different topics that help students gain their professional footing. The Adaptability and Resilience module dives into emotional regulation, stress management and how to maintain composure during high-stress situations in a professional environment. Students will learn the LEAD Method, what radical transparency is and how to implement it, as well as other useful tactics. The modules allow students to apply new skills to different scenarios and reflect on their personal experiences to reinforce the material. Lessons are delivered in an animated, user-friendly format that keeps learners engaged and actively participating.

As students complete the modules, they earn certificates of completion that can be referenced on resumes, portfolios and LinkedIn profiles to highlight their dedication to professional development in key areas.

Choose Your Adventure

As the student navigates through each module, they’ll follow the journey of four students through interactive videos: Sam, Jessica, Victor and Maria, as they navigate the workplace with varying scenarios and degrees of experience. In the Workplace Fundamentals module, Sam is looking to make a strong first impression for his first day of work at AGC, Inc. Students are given multiple options for what Sam should do upon arriving. If students select a less effective option, they receive immediate feedback and can try again. This helps them see how different choices affect a workplace situation while building professional judgment.

Students are able to access the Career Success Program at no cost through Canvas. An academic advisor, faculty member, student employee supervisor or CCPR staff member may recommend a specific module based on a student’s goals, and students may also contact CCPR for help choosing where to begin. Visit the Career Success Program web page for access information and additional resources.
