Placement Testing

In-person placement testing restricted starting November 18th

Starting November 18th the Enrollment Center is closed along with on-campus placement testing.  To take the test remotely please contact Jason Schueller at jschueller@grcc.edu.

If you have filled out your GRCC admissions application -- but have not taken the ACT, SAT or have 12 or less college credits -- you are required to take the Accuplacer assessment for your English course placement.  This test must be scheduled by contacting Jason Schueller.  The ALEKS math assessment can be taken anytime through your Online Center.

Test Information

Our placement tests are not pass or fail; the results are used to ensure you are enrolled in courses that match your skill level and subject knowledge. These assessments also help us identify any potential opportunities for you to bypass courses not required for your degree or transfer pathway.  Testing is done Monday through Friday in the Enrollment Center located on the first floor of RJF Hall (formerly the Main Building).  No RSVP is required, but please remember to bring a picture ID.  Testing starts at 8 a.m. and the last testing time starts at 3:30 p.m.

Test Types

We provide three placement tests: ALEKS PPLAccuplacer and Levels of English Proficiency (LOEP), to determine your strengths and weaknesses in subjects including:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Reading comprehension
