Graduates of this GRCC Job Training program become Machine Tool/Computer Numerical Control (MT/CNC) technicians or CNC operators -- shaping metal and various materials to precise dimensions by using machine tools.
MT/CNC technicians and operators plan and set up the correct sequence of machine operations by following blueprints, layouts or other instructions to write both manual and computer-generated machine programs.
In this program you will learn how to:
- Use various hand tools.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and gauges.
- Read blueprints.
- Perform basic shop math.
- Read measurement tools.
- Communicate effectively using current Machine Tool/CNC terminology.
Credits from this program may be applied to an associate degree in the Manufacturing and Applied Technology Academic Pathway if you decide to continue your education and advance in your career.
