MRI A.A.A.S. Application Process

This application process is for individuals who have not previously graduated from an accredited educational institution, and registered through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography.

Prior to beginning the application process, all non-MRI required foundational courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.

Before you apply to the MRI A.A.A.S. program

  1. You must Apply to GRCC, if you're not a current student.
  2. All transcripts from other colleges or universities attended must be received by GRCC’s Enrollment Services by January 1 of the year you are requesting admittance.

Admissions to the MRI Program at GRCC is based on points and a face-to-face interview process. Points are awarded based on academic achievement and the completion of the required documentation.

Pre-admissions requirements

  • Be a high school graduate or have passed the high school equivalency GED (General Educational Development) test.
  • Have a cumulative high school or college GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Demonstrate math competency within the last 5 years.  Math competency can be demonstrated through the following ways:
    • Math Placement Test (ALEKS) with a score of 30 or higher or
    • Completion of MA 098 or higher with a grade of C or better within the last five years.

If the ALEKS placement test score is less than 30, it is recommended that the student choose one of the following:

    1. Utilize the ALEKS preparation and learning module provided in ALEKS. With this module students can review on their own at their own pace.  After a student is confident that they have sufficiently reviewed topics to refresh their prior knowledge, they can retake the assessment for a new placement.
    2. Utilize tutorial support provided by GRCC in collaboration with the ALEKS preparation and learning module provided in ALEKS. With this module students can review on their own at their own pace with a tutor.  After a student is confident that they have sufficiently reviewed topics to refresh their prior knowledge, they can retake the assessment for a new placement.
    3. Register for MA 70 if a student wants dedicated class time with a faculty member to help them set goals.  In MA 70, students will utilize the ALEKS preparation and learning module provided in ALEKS, with this module students can review and learn topics in class and in the tutorial lab.  After a student is confident that they have sufficiently reviewed topics to refresh their prior knowledge, they can retake the assessment for a new placement.
