How long does it take to get an early childhood education degree?

Most students complete their associate degree in two years. How quickly you finish your degree will depend on how many classes you decide to take per semester. Since this program requires at least 60 credits, you’ll need to take around 15 credits per semester to graduate in two years.

After earning your associate degree from GRCC, you will transfer to WMU to complete a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood General and Special Education and Lower Elementary Education: Birth through Grade 3.

What can I do with a degree in early childhood education?

Students with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education are eligible to teach early childhood (birth through kindergarten) and lower elementary (preschool through 3rd grade). With the ongoing teacher shortages in Michigan and around the country, graduates will have plenty of opportunities to work in community-based or school-based environments.
