Local Corrections Physical Abilities Test (LCOPAT)
The LCOPAT is designed to simulate the physical aspects of the local corrections officer profession and is made up of different components that address a specific physical ability or job task.
It is the candidate's responsibility to provide proof of successful completion of the LCOPAT to a potential employer. The test results of the LCOPAT are valid for one (1) year from successful completion of the test.

To participate in the Pre-Enrollment Physical Fitness Test, candidates must bring the following items:
- A signed Physician's Health Screening Form
- Gym shorts and T-shirt or sweat suit
- Gym shoes
- Athletic supporter (males), or bra (females)
- Driver's license or other government-issued photo ID
- $50--either pay over the phone through GRCC's Student Financial Services Office at (616) 234-4020, exact change, or check written to Grand Rapids Community College

EMPCO- Sheriffās/Local Corrections Reading and Writing Exam
Empco conducts entry level examinations for Sheriffās Offices through the Sheriffsā Association Testing Program. The cost of the test is $75.
