Spring reading event
This Spring’s Reading will “double” as a GRCC Pre-English Majors advising event. Faculty readers will discuss their writing as well as their education as writers.
A buffet of snacks and beverages will be served. This event is sponsored by the GRCC English Department, the GRCC Library and Learning Commons, and Transfer Bridges to the Humanities, U-M.

Susan Davis
Susan Davis has been a GRCC professor since 1986. She began her teaching career as an adjunct, and has been a full-time professor for twenty-four years. She was co-Director of the Lake Michigan Writing Project for fifteen years, which re-ignited her passion for writing, and ultimately led to her MFA. Her degrees include a Master's Degree in English and American Literature (MSU) in 1986, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Non-Fiction (Queen's University, NC) in 2021. We are never too old to be students! As she contemplates retirement, Susan is working toward publishing her writing.
Katie Kalisz
Katie Kalisz is a Professor in the English Department at Grand Rapids Community College, where she teaches composition and creative writing. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Loyola University of Chicago, and Queens University of Charlotte. Quiet Woman, her first book, was a finalist for the 2018 Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award. She is the recipient of a 2023 Elizabeth George Foundation Grant, and her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. You can find her work at www.katiekalisz.com

Mursalata Muhammad is a creative writer. She’s published poetry online and in anthologies.
Nora Neill
Nora Neill lives in a historic home in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her spouse, child, at least a couple of cats and one dog. During the day, evening and even some nights, she teaches composition classes at Grand Rapids Community College. This year she’s wishing for a safer world and figuring out her place in making that dream a reality. You can find her writing in Midwestern Gothic, Plainsongs, Dunes Review, among other publications.
