We make it easy to transfer your credits in to GRCC.
The knowledge and experience that you carry with you to GRCC is why we evaluate a wide range of credits — from other college credit to military credits and industry credentials.
We Welcome Seven Types of Credits
College or University Credits
We evaluate all credits on an official transcript that are received from regionally accredited institutions. A grade of C or better must have been earned for the course. Search for the name of the college or university in the TES database to see how your credit will transfer by reviewing documented equivalencies.
Test Credit
AP/CLEP
Have the American College Board send your official test scores to College Code 1254 (GRCC Student Records Office). Search for The College Board in the TES database to see if your credit will transfer.
Challenge Exams
If you achieve the minimum test score indicated on each faculty-developed study guide, the Student Records Office will be notified and post the credit(s) to your transcript. Please note that Challenge Exam credit cannot be transferred to another institution.
DANTES
Contact the testing service and have your official transcript sent to Admissions and Student Services.
ACE Credit
Visit ACE Credit Registry and Transcript System and have your official transcript sent to Admissions and Student Services.
If you have received ACE coursework and credit from the McDonald's Corporation, follow these steps to transfer into GRCC.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Search for the name of the test provider in the TES database to see if your credit will transfer.
Foreign or International Credit
To receive transfer credit from colleges outside the United States, send a course-by-course evaluation completed by a NACES accredited credential evaluator to to Student Records or emailed to transfercredit@grcc.edu.

Evaluation of military credit
Military credit is evaluated based on the credit equivalency recommendations and outcomes provided on the joint services transcript. If a direct equivalent is not determined, students may receive elective credit to apply toward electives in their program. Students may receive up to 3 elective credits per subject area in military transfer credit.
If you have questions on enrollment processes, contact the Veterans Benefits Coordinator at (616) 234-4129.
Industry-Recognized Credentials
If you’ve earned a nationally accredited industry or professional credential, it may qualify for academic credit.
To apply for the credit, visit the department chair of the department for which the credit will apply. More information on this can be found by reading the Industry Recognized Credentials/Test Credit policy.
High School or Technical Center Credit
Courses completed at a high school or technical center may qualify for articulated credit at GRCC. Review the list of approved courses to determine if a course is eligible for credit. Visit the High School and Technical Center Articulation webpage for more information.
To receive GRCC credit a student must:
- Complete an approved high school or technical center course with a grade of B or higher.
- Apply to and be admitted as a GRCC degree-seeking student within two years of high school/technical center graduation.
- Complete the Articulated Course Credit Application. There is no cost for articulated credit at GRCC.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Credit
Real-world learning experiences may meet course objectives and qualify for credit. Examples include on-the-job experience, non-credit training — even hobbies!
