Notice: Traffic shift due to construction

If you’re traveling to GRCC’s Main Campus, please be aware that both Lyon and Fountain Streets will convert to two-way traffic between Division and Ranson starting Apr 29, 2024. View map

Construction and road closures update

  • Division Avenue- Between Fulton St and Michigan will be going through utility upgrades and will be closed.
    • If you park in Parking Ramp A, the easiest detour for students will be using Fulton Street to Ransom Avenue NE and then using the entrance at the top of the ramp.

Main Campus Parking Ramps

As a downtown urban campus, the GRCC Main Campus has limited parking on site. During peak times (Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.) on-campus parking is at capacity at the following parking structures:

  • Parking Ramp A (formerly Bostwick Street Ramp): This is by far the largest ramp on campus with multiple entrances/exits. Entrances can be found at the top of the ramp just off of Ransom Street and on the lower level at Fountain Street.
  • Parking Ramp B (formerly Lyon Street Ramp): entrance on Bostwick Street NE.

Sneden Hall parking

  • Parking Ramp C (Sneden hall parking): There is an entrance on Fountain street, directly across from Central innovation high school. Also an entrance off of Fulton Street East.

Parking Hours

GRCC parking ramps are normally open 24 hours a day/7 days a week for vehicular use, however during some holidays and college shut down periods the ramps may be closed.

How much does it cost to park?

  • If you use your RaiderCard to enter and exit the ramp, it costs $3.50 per day. When using your RaiderCard, you are only charged once per day, no matter how many times you enter and exit. This does not apply if you pull a ticket to enter the ramp.
  • If you don’t use your RaiderCard, parking costs $2 per hour/$12 maximum per day.
  • Be aware that only some parking ramp entrance lanes have pay-in-lane machines that accept cash, credit, or debit cards. All parking ramp entrances have RaiderCard readers.
  • If you lose your ramp entrance ticket, have no ticket, or have no money on your RaiderCard, you’ll be charged $12 at the pay in lane machine.

There are two ways to pay in GRCC parking ramps:

1. RaiderCard Readers

  • All lanes have RaiderCard readers. Some lanes only have RaiderCard Readers.
  • You must have money on your RaiderCard to pay the $3.50 parking fee to exit the ramp.
    • Beginning fall 2020, you can enter and exit GRCC student parking ramps multiple times each day while only being charged once for parking. You must swipe your RaiderCard when entering and exiting the ramp for this feature to work. You will be charged $3.50 when you exit the first time and will be able to enter and exit the rest of the day for free. You must use your RaiderCard for all entries and exits for this feature to work.
  • If you have no money on your RaiderCard you must use a pay in lane machine.

2. Pay in lane machines

  • Pay in lane machines accept cash, credit and debit cards for payment.
  • With a ticket, pay in lane machines charge $2.00 per half hour up to a $12 daily maximum.
  • There is a help button on each pay in lane machine if you are having trouble exiting the ramp.
  • No attendants will be on duty at the lanes, and no fail to pay tickets will be issued.

Please note that if you lose your ticket, or have no ticket, and have no money on your RaiderCard you will be charged $12 at the pay in lane machine.

Alternatives to the parking ramps. alternatives

There are a few ways to save on parking at GRCC and avoid the par:

  • Using College Avenue Lot Parking could cost half of what you pay to park in a ramp all year. You’ll pay a one-time fee of $125 for the fall semester; with the option to sign up for the winter semester for $125. You’ll then use the free Sneden Hall Shuttle to travel to and from Main Campus.
  • Using the FREE shuttle service can save you time as you travel between DeVos Campus and Main Campus.
  • Riding the Rapid or the Silverline express bus costs approximately $130 per semester or $37.50 for 30 days with a GRCC partner Wave card. You can purchase a partner Wave Card for $2 and load funds as needed.

Additional parking information

Overhead Clearance

The overhead clearance for Parking Ramp A (formerly Bostwick Street Ramp) is 6 feet 4 inches, and Parking Ramp B (formerly Lyon Street Ramp) is 7 feet. Parking Ramp C for most of the available parking does not have an overhead structure.

Metered Parking

There is limited metered parking on the city streets surrounding Main Campus. Metered street parking is heavily patrolled. Tickets often result from expired meters and illegal parking. You can now use your cell phone to pay for parking at a city meter. Learn more on the City of Grand Rapids website.
