Support in navigating college life, adjusting to new environments, and accessing resources designed for underrepresented and diverse student populations. 

English Language Proficiency Support

Information and referrals to ESL programs for students whose native language is not English. 

Financial Aid Assistance

One-on-one support completing and understanding FAFSA, financial aid appeals, loans, and grants. 

Financial Literacy

Free workshops and resources on budgeting, debt management, retirement, credit scores & reports, home ownership, student loans, and how to prepare for a financial emergency. 

GED Program Info or Referral

Information about GED program formats, structure, and location options. Guidance applying to the program that best fits the student’s needs and direct referrals from TRIO EOC to GED programs.

Interest & Career Assessments

Tools and assessments to assist students to identify their strengths, interests, and potential career options. 

Job Training Information or Referral

Information on workforce training programs, certifications, and skilled trades opportunities & the option for TRIO EOC to provide a direct referral to the training institution. 

Personal Counseling

Referrals to college- based counseling services (when applicable) or referrals to community resource to support students navigate a mental health crisis, personal challenges, or their emotional well-being 

Placement Testing Information

Information about college placement testing requirements, steps, and preparation resources. 

Referral to Another College

Support the student in researching & identifying the postsecondary institution that best fit their career and goals. 

Referrals to Community Organizations

Referrals to EOC’s community partners for food assistance, housing assistance, career exploration, job search assistance, and any other essential need. 

Scholarship Information & Assistance

Assistance finding available scholarships opportunities and providing guidance for students completing the scholarship application, including reviewing essays.

State Financial Aid Guidance

Information and guidance applying to state-based grants such as TIP, Michigan Reconnect, Community College Guarantee, etc.

Study & Test Taking Skills Support

Provide resources to help students strengthen their study habits, test preparation methods, time management, and confidence.
