The Regional Police Academy program is a 16-week, full-time program running from January through April.
To qualify, applicants must hold an associate degree or higher, or be actively sponsored/employed by a law enforcement agency. Students without a degree or agency sponsorship should consider GRCC's Semester Track Police Academy.
All candidates must complete an application, pass minimum MCOLES screening standards, and successfully complete an interview to be selected into the program.

Grand Rapids Community College's Regional Police Academy is a regional, full-time academy designed to prepare future law enforcement professionals for careers in policing.
Program Schedule
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Academy Dates: January 11āApril 28, 2027
- Class Schedule: MondayāFriday
- Typically 8 a.m.ā5 p.m. or 9 a.m.ā6 p.m.
- Occasional weekend training is required
Program Cost
- Tuition: $9,000*
- This program is not eligible for financial aid.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for GRCC's Regional Police Academy, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have earned an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution; or
- Be sponsored by a law enforcement agency.

Complete the online interest form. After completing the form, contact the Criminal Justice Department to receive the academy application and additional enrollment information.
