Students wishing to enroll in applied string lessons should plan to audition. Students wishing to pursue a degree in music with a string instrument as their primary emphasis may prepare using the listed items below. These requirements are suggestions. You may choose to perform any pieces/scales that you feel demonstrates your best musical ability, and you will be placed in the appropriate level of applied study.

- Bass (upright classical bass and jazz bass/bass guitar) - Dr. Hannah Macgillivray (hannahmacgillivray@grcc.edu)
Scales
- 2 or 3 octave major and melodic minor scales.
Technical studies
- Etude or solo piece of your choice for your prospective instrument (ex; Mazas, Wolfhart, Kreutzer).
Solo
- Movement of sonata or concerto of your choice.
