Change of Academic Program (Major) Form

If your declared academic program (major) is inaccurate or you have made the decision to follow a different academic program, this is the form for you! If you are unsure of your declared academic program (major), log into the Online Student Center or My Degree Path to determine if a change is needed. To find out if a change of academic program (major) will be academically appropriate, please speak with an advisor or use the What-If function in MyDegree Path. Students with financial aid should contact the Financial Aid Office at (616) 234-4030 prior to changing their academic program (major) to determine if there will be any impact on current or future financial aid.


Fill out the form below completely, taking into consideration the following important information:

  • Students cannot select an academic program or degree that has already been or will be awarded from GRCC.
  • If a student selects his/her current declared academic program (major), this submission will be considered a change of catalog year.
  • If a student selects a new academic program (major), the catalog year could be impacted, per the Catalog Year Policy. For more information, please visit the Catalog Year Information webpage.
  • If the program desired is not available in the academic program (major) options, contact the appropriate department for more information.
  • Students who are currently listed as non-degree seeking but wish to declare a degree-seeking program may be contacted for additional information.
  • For more information about the different degree types offered at GRCC, please consult the GRCC catalog.
  • Students wishing to select one of our health programs (Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Radiologic Technology) as their declared program should submit the Health Admissions Application, if it hasn't been submitted already.   • Students wishing to select one of our Criminal Justice Academy Programs (Law Enforcement, Police Academy, or Sheriff's Corrections Academy) for their declared program should contact the Police Academy academic department for more information.
  • Students wishing to select the Manufacturing or IT Apprenticeship program should contact the Apprenticeship academic department for more information.
Personal Information

Degree Seeking - Student plans to take classes to complete a certificate, degree, and/or transfer credits to another college or university.

Non-Degree Seeking - Student plans to take classes with no intention to pursue a certificate, degree or credit transfer. Non-Degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an associate degree from GRCC, the Associate of General Studies is not a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from GRCC, an academic program from this list will not be a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an Associate of Science degree from GRCC, an academic program from this list will not be a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: Only one degree in Child Development AAAS (120, 180 or 634) from GRCC can be earned.

Be Advised: Only one degree in Plastic-Polymer Engineering Technology AAAS (797, 798, or 935) from GRCC can be earned.

Be Advised: Advanced certificates in Culinary Arts are meant for students who have already received or are currently receiving an Associate Degree. For more information about these programs, please contact the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education.
